About Dianne:

I have a Masters degree in Counselling and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#6880), with a private practice in North Vancouver. As a therapist, I welcome individuals and couples facing concerns with infertility, relationships, career satisfaction, anxiety, depression, stress, self esteem, and grief to my practice.

Educational and Professional Experience:

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, I pursued a career in marketing and sales with IBM and Telus. Later when facing challenges starting a family, I decided to make a career change.

I completed Certification Programs at UBC in Counselling and at the Justice Institute in Conflict Resolution. I have volunteered as a life and career counsellor (UBC), a career mentor (Professional Women's Group), and a community educator (Vancouver Crisis Centre). My internship was in Adult Addictions at Share Family Services.

While obtaining my Master in Counselling from City University of Seattle, I completed graduate research in identifying best counselling practices for individuals and couples facing real or potential infertility.

I have facilitated workshops on the following topics:

  • Stress Management
  • Building Self-Esteem
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Effective Communications
  • Making Mid-Life Transitions

My Counselling Approach

I engage my clients in a conversation where they may explore their issues and options for their future without judgement or negativity. Clients develop hope that what troubles them now can be addressed and optimism that they will learn ways to move forward. I bring a warm and practical approach as I support the unique strengths of each client. I draw from the following theories to personalize a client's experience in counselling:

  • Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Mind/Body Therapy
  • Gottman Couples Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Conflict Resolution
